Welcome Letter

Welcome Alaska Geological Society Members and friends! We are looking forward to this year’s 2023 AGS Technical Conference. The conference will be held in Anchorage on University of Alaska Anchorage’s campus. Like last year, the conference will be a hybrid format with online and in person options. We highly encourage in person attendance if possible.

AGS is a strong supporter of the University of Alaska geoscience programs in Fairbanks and Anchorage. We are a non-profit organization and offer support to university students through our strong scholarship programs and our continued professional and student attended technical conferences and monthly luncheons. We ask you to help us continue this legacy.

The theme for this year’s conference is Responsible Resource Independence. Alaska is rich in natural resources, from precious metals to hydrocarbons. We want to highlight the research and people working toward sustainable, responsible development of these resources in our State.

How can you help?

1. Plan on attending the 2023 Technical Conference. Please encourage your friends and colleagues to attend as well.
2.  Submit an abstract for a poster and a give a 10-15-minute poster talk (limited to 5 slides), and plan on presenting at the meeting.

Our programs are managed by volunteers and 100% of your donations go toward scholarships and community outreach. We ask that you consider a donation to the 2023 AGS-UAF-UAA Technical Conference. To help, we ask you to become a Gold ($500), Silver ($250), or Bronze ($100) contributor. These funds will directly go to financing the conference, i.e. student support and facilities.
