Scholarships.
Most geoscientists can recall being drawn to the Earth Sciences because of a fascination, an admiration, and a desire to discover the processes of nature that continue to shape our planet. There are many different ways to apply an understanding of Earth Sciences as the diversity of our AGS membership clearly attests. Some choose to pursue geology as a profession while others may become the teachers who kindle that initial spark of interest in Earth Sciences for their students.
Our goal is to support interested students.
One of AGS’ primary goals is to help renew this important resource of practicing geoscientists by working to attract and to support other dedicated students to this exciting field. Whatever your personal goals, if you are one of these dedicated individuals, we want to offer you encouragement and an opportunity to obtain additional financial support to further your geoscience education.
As in the past, the Alaska Geological Society has scholarship funding available for deserving undergraduate or graduate students. We typically award a number of scholarships of different amounts each spring. Also, we encourage past applicants or awardees to apply again.
Decisions are based upon individual merit, as decided by consensus of the AGS Scholarship Committee.
